Unreal for my 13th Consecutive Season

Fortnite CH7S3 marks the 13th consecutive that this 66 year old Camper has reached Unreal. It took 112 games and I hit Unreal fast on just the fifth day of CH7S3. In this article, I share my key tips and strategy for reaching Unreal this season. The below chart shows how many games it’s taken me each season.

Fortnite CH7S3 Strategy Guide

Play ZeroBuild (ZB) Mode

Choose to rank up in Fortnite ZeroBuild as opposed to Battle Royale Builds. I began my ranked journey this season by playing several games of ranked Builds. I usually prefer Builds because it enables me to get up and over tall items. However, after playing 1 game of ranked ZB, I discovered that storm 5 deals only 1 DPS in ZB, but is 2 DPS in Builds. This makes a huge difference to campers as it allows storm camping deeper into a match. Trust me. Rank up in ZB if you’re a camper!

Camp in Tree Tops

There’s an enormous amount of trees in Fortnite CH7S3 that make safe havens for camping to Unreal. Use the relatively new free fall mechanic to drop quickly to the vicinity of the tree top and pop your glider once you get very close to avoid fall damage. Treetop camping is so good this season, that I wrote a Fortnite song about it. Stop by my stream. If you ask me, I’ll gladly play it for you!

Another benefit to tree camping is this season has pulse scanners. Being high atop a tree allows you to avoid being marked by pulse scanners.

Avoid Storm Damage in Storms 1 & 2

Stay perched in a tree or out at sea for storms one and two. This allows you to survive later in the game before you’ll get storm sickness. In order to rank up quickly, you’ll need to survive until storm 7 which is a powerful 5 DPS.

Exit Tree Tops with your Glider

Another benefit to playing ZB is you can deploy your glider when leaping off high objects like trees. Use your glider to fly into the storm then fish and loot until most of storm 6. By storm 7, you need to be out of the storm and ideally back in a tree top. Your equipped shockwave is a good way to get up there.

Patience is Rewarded

Excessive movement and noise are two major enemies of Fortnite Campers attempting to rank to Unreal. Unless you have great aim, taking a fight is almost never worth it. This tip applies to most campers and is simple yet can be the hardest to follow. Good luck! Hope to see you in an Unreal lobby soon!
