My Fortnite Boomer League Adventure

Getting Invited

It all began with a raid from noellicc. Her crew raided our channel with energy and enthusiasm making our day. So as soon as I had a chance, I visited her community. Her chat was very welcoming, I hung out, chatted and she suggested that I join the Fortnite Boomer League. noellicc forwarded me an invitation to the Boomer League discord and I signed up.

Cutting my Teeth

My first Fortnite Boomer League event was with our good friend and moderator ForagerDad. Might as well jump right into the deep end, we played the Unreal Trial Cup. Low expectations as we were both adult campers competing against FNCS hopefuls. The goal. Don’t finish last. We finished 29th out of a field of 32. Mission completed.

Next up, I played with another good friend and moderator, Ann. We played in the BushCampDad Duos Cup. Once again I was paired with another seasoned camper so expectations were to just have fun. And that we did. We camped our butts off and finished 39th out of the 49 duos that played. Short clip: We’re 39!

Thrust into the Fortnite Spotlight

A friend from Fortnite Boomer League messaged me and asked if I’d like to play in their upcoming event, “Clix vs 99 Boomers.” Are you kidding me? PopsPlaysToo on the same battle bus as Fortnite’s most elite player and streamer? Wake me up! I immediately registered for the event and a couple of days later found myself waiting at the bus stop to board with Clix and 99 Boomers (many of which were also very accomplished Fortnite players and streamers).

At the start of the tourney, my chat was telling me that another famous streamer, Faxuty, was talking about W keying (taking me out) now that he heard of me, the old guy, during the pre-game briefing by Boomer League staff. Faxuty visited my stream right before the tournament started and was fun and friendly. The first clip below has become the most viewed content that I’ve ever posted. It’s currently at 34.6k views.

As if that wasn’t enough, the entire event was broadcast by the famous AussieAntics and I don’t think he could of said a single nicer thing about me. When this clip was pointed out to me by one of my mods, I couldn’t believe it.

My Boomer League Journey Continues

Just last week I played in the “Sours and Botleigh Trios Coed Cup.” My Fortnite friends VictoriousMom and ReasonableDad joined me for this adventure. They are both more skilled than I at fighting but we made a good trio, had fun, and worked together. We even had a game with a 14th place finish in a very competitive field of players. Yet another fun Fortnite experience.

Fortnite Trios Showdown – On Deck

My head continues spinning. This upcoming Thursday, Feb. 26th, 8pm ET, is the “Fortnite Trios Showdown.” It will be another extremely competitive field. For this event I’m honored to be playing with noellicc and Botleigh_ ; two very talented Fortnite young ladies. Can’t wait!

Special Thank You

Becca, Botleigh_ , and noellicc from the Boomer League have all been exceptionally helpful, welcoming, and kind. Joining a new group where you don’t know anyone and the playing skill levels vary from pros to campers (me), is daunting. Especially at 66 years old. These women, and the entire Fortnite Boomer League community have all been amazing. If you’re over 25 and interested in making new Fortnite friends and playing in competitive events, come be a part of it. Search for Fortnite BoomerLeague in Discord or reach out to me, pops@popsplaystoo.com for info.
