Hitting Unreal in Fortnite Battle Royale CH6S4 took just 5 Days!

Shattered my Previous Records

In Fortnite Battle Royale CH6S4, I reached Unreal 3 days faster and in 29% fewer games than in any previous Fortnite Season! My first attempt at reaching Unreal took 551 games. This season, I achieved Fortnite’s Unreal ranking in just 81 games. The below chart depicts the number of games that its taken me to reach Unreal every season.

Why Unreal so Fast this Season?

I’d love to say that it’s because I’ve become so great at the game. That’s not it. But it fairness, I have become better so I will include that as a reason. Here’s my top reasons that I reached Unreal so quickly in CH6S4.

  1. Fortnite Skills Improvements
  2. Fortnite Discipline Improvements
  3. Perimeter of Fortnite Map Virtually Unchanged
  4. No Tracking Visors or Tracking Medallions
  5. Minimal Stream Snipers

Fortnite Skills Improvements

Although I rank up to Unreal with a camping strategy, movement and building skills are still quite valuable. I’m gradually improving both.

Improving driving skills have made a difference in helping me escape sticky situations and make safe rotations to the next zone. Also, I’ve improved my usage of bounce pads and shockwaves which also are valuable movement aids.

Getting better to quickly build and edit even small structures also helps provide shelter and longevity in Fortnite Battle Royale.

Fortnite Discipline Improvements

Playing ranked Fortnite in a disciplined manner yields better results. There are 3 main aspects of camping strategy that I’ve become better at. They are movement, noise, and risk taking.

Oddly enough, the first one is again “movement.” Or a better way to put it, would be the “lack of movement.” Our eyes are trained to spot movement. Therefore, movement is the enemy of those who would like to remain being unseen. That’s me. In essence, I’ve become better at not moving when unnecessary. This has been a big contributor to my survival late into Fortnite Battle Royale ranked games even at competitive levels.

Secondly, is noise. Or better said, “lack of noise.” This means crouch walking and side swimming whenever possible to avoid movement visualization. Further, I try not to make noise by using my pick axe to break slurp barrels or harvest materials unless I’m deep in the storm and fairly confident no one can hear me.

My final discipline improvements are related to risk taking. I’ve become much better at not trying to get eliminations. Why? I know at Elite and Champion level, almost every player has better eyesight and aim than me. Therefore why risk eliminating myself and making noise for others to hear to try and earn a small percentage of ranking up. Doesn’t make sense.

Perimeter of the Fortnite Map Unchanged

There has been extremely little change to all of the points of interest (POIs) around the perimeter of the map. This means that I already knew my favorite landing and camping spots very well. This was a key factor that made camping to Unreal a breeze in Fortnite Ch6S4.

No Tracking Visors or Tracking Medallions

Periodically Fortnite has items that players can carry in their inventory that allow them to reveal where their opponents are located. There is only one such item in CH6S4 which is are flare guns that are difficult to find. Last season there were easy to find tracking visors that made it easy to spot enemies.

Minimal Stream Snipers

Let’s just say there are people that play the game and cheat. This had much lower impact on me than in any previous season. I only had 2 games this season where I suspected that I was eliminated by a Stream Sniping cheater. Maybe a contributing factor to this is that Fortnite is banning them more quickly once they’re reported. Hey. A guy can hope!
