Crown Counts in Fortnite explained
Incrementing your “crown counter” in Fortnite has been relatively hard. The first step in doing this is to win a Fortnite game. This gives you a crown on your head, however that alone did not increase your “crown count.” To increase your crown count, a player must win a match with a crown already on their head.
Acquiring Crowns was very time consuming
Crowns can be earned by playing any of the variety of Fortnite games. This includes Battle Royale, Zero Build, OG, and Reload. A full game for each of these modes takes about 20 minutes to play. This meant that to get a crown and then win with that crown on your head (which doesn’t always happen) took about 40 minutes.
Fortnite Blitz Royale impacts on Crown Counts
This season, Fortnite introduced a new game mode; “Blitz Royale,” usually referred to as just “Blitz.” Blitz is a faster paced version of Fortnite. It’s played on a smaller island, with less players and the entire game takes only 4 to 5 minutes to play. This means that a player can accumulate crowns almost 5 times faster than they could in the past.
Another contributing factor that makes it easier to acquire crowns in Blitz, is the amount of “Bots” in the game. Bots are not real players. They look like players in the game however they are programmed and fairly easy to eliminate. Blitz games contain predominantly bots with only a handful of regular players. This means, there’s a much lesser chance of being eliminated and it’s easier to make it to the end of the game in Blitz.
Blitz Royale is popular
Fortnite Blitz Royale was initially launched and intended to only be a temporary game mode. It was supposed to be around for just a few weeks. Turns out, this new, fun, and fast-paced game mode is becoming wildly popular. Fortnite recently announced that Blitz will remain as a permanent game mode. As I’m writing this article, there are almost as many playing Blitz Royale as Fortnite’s most popular game modes. There’s 109,000 people playing Blitz Royale, 149,000 playing Battle Royale, and 127,000 playing Zero Build at the moment.
Blitz Royale is fun
Most Fortnite players, like me, don’t possess exceptional aim and fighting skills. Blitz Royale gives players the ability to play a fast paced game with a lot of action and at the same time allows them to improve their aim by fighting predominantly bots. I’ve enjoyed playing it very much this season and have seen my aim improving as a result.
PopsPlaysToo Crown Count
Returning to the theme of the article, “It’s Raining Crowns in Fortnite Blitz Royale.” In a typical Fortnite season, my Fortnite crown count will normally be around 25. This season, with all the Blitz I’ve played, my crown count is 182! That is a crazy number of crowns for this Unreal Fortnite Camper!!!
Closing Thoughts on Blitz Royale and Crowns
Fortnite Blitz Royale is fun and accumulating crowns is fun too! I’m happy Blitz is here to stay. One improvement would be for Fortnite to count crowns by game mode instead of across all game modes. This would make it fairer for comparison purposes and not potentially devalue a crown’s achievement as it is very relative to the game mode that a player earns it in.
