Ranking to Unreal Rapidly
Fortnite Ch6S3 is super hero themed and I began the season skeptical about how quickly I would achieve Unreal. This was due to the addition of the Tracking Visor. This is a utility item that reveals nearby enemies and tracks their footprints. Basically, a camper’s nightmare!
This forced me to modify my Fortnite ranking up strategy. Instead of landing and remaining still, I had to stay far from players. This was especially important if they had the Tracking Visor. I chose to do a lot of water camping this season. Remaining out at sea, peacefully. The strategy paid off. I ranked to Unreal the fastest I ever have. It took only 113 games!

FNCS Quals with BushCampDad – How it Happened
Last year when I played in the FNCS Qualifier with BushCampDad, I had almost 2 weeks to prepare. This year, about 2 hours. It was a last minute, spur of the moment opportunity.
Here’s how it came to be. As he’s one of my favorite streamers, I routinely drop in on BushCampDad’s stream to watch. It just so happened that he mentioned that his wife was going out for the night. I wasn’t sure, but I thought there was a FNCS Trios Qualifier scheduled that night. I checked and there was. I messaged him and asked him if he wanted to run it back with me. He said to give him a little while and he’d get back to me. He did!

Unfortunately, we had a comedy of errors kicking off our play. Everything appeared to be going smoothly, he had someone he’d played with before. All 3 of us were loaded in BushCampDad’s lobby. We played a warm up game. Then…
The tournament had started but we couldn’t find the button to join. People in the chat speculated that maybe we had the wrong date. Turned out that our third person hadn’t played in enough tournaments to be qualified.
So we tried again, this time I brought in someone from my chat. Turned out, he was qualified to play but he didn’t have anti-cheat software installed on his system so he couldn’t play.
BushCampDad then brought in someone else, I can’t even remember what their issue was but somehow they too were unqualified.
I tried again and brought in yet another to be our Trio. He turned out to not be a high enough rank in the mode we were playing. He too was unqualified!
Finally, BushCampDad brought in one of his moderators, msgteamgmg, and they were qualified! We joined the 3 hour tournament 30 minutes late. The fiasco was over and we were on our way!
FNCS Quals with BushCampDad – The Tournament
Considering we started so late, we did pretty decent. Our team scored 151 points and had 3 games to spare. In one of my games, Fortnite glitched. My character wouldn’t stop from spinning out of control after opening a chest. Had a great game going so that one hurt.
Getting to play in this tournament at the last minute with BushCampDad was a great treat. It’s always so much fun and you know the saying…there’s always next season!
