Launching the PopPlaysToo Fortnite Blog
At the beginning of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 is when the PopsPlaysToo Fortnite Blog launched. It’s hard to believe that this was only a dozen weeks ago. Getting the website built, learning how to make AI prompts that didn’t return gibberish, and becoming disciplined to post weekly on my progress were all key ingredients that I learned. The website successfully launched and I reported on my ranking progress through my blog regularly.
Achieving the Unreal Ranking
Though determined, there were several times I truly didn’t expect it to happen. In particular, I remember when I reached Diamond level and came to the realization that I was now playing against all 3 levels of Diamond being intimidated. Yet I powered through and made it to that ultimate Unreal ranking with a week and a half to spare! This was the first season that I ever set out to achieve that goal so for that reason alone, Fortnite Ch5S2 will always hold a special place in my journey playing Fortnite.
The Fortnite Ch5S2 Map
Though it felt like a lot of open expanse areas in-between the landmark locations, the locations themselves were superb. Particularly Mount Olympus and The Underworld. The mythology theme in general was strong. It felt oddly out of place to me to mix in Star Wars with that but I guess they didn’t want to diss the Star Wars Fan base.
As a player that ranked upwards by mostly camping, there felt like very few places to land that there wasn’t at least one other player that also chose to drop there. The trees that could be straddled into were a great addition and provided some much needed cover for campers and seeking refuge.
Streaming Fortnite on Twitch
I learned a little about streaming Fortnite on Twitch. Enough to know that I have a lot to learn about streaming! There’s so many aspects. Technical. Production. Moderation. Promotion. It’s like trying to swallow an elephant in one bite.
I wanted to be able to stream the day I hit Unreal and was able to successfully do that (to an audience of some family…lol). Improvements were made to basic stream set up by upgrading my internet connection, purchasing better lighting, and working out other technical bugs.
Most importantly, I started watching and learning from successful streamers. Among my favorites so far are Sypher PK who is an accomplished pro that I happened to catch streaming with perhaps the oldest Fortnite streamer GrumpyGran 1948. He was so kind and had such genuine fun playing Fortnite with her that it was truly inspiring! Also, of note, and very relevant to my game is BushCampDad. He skyrocketed to fame this last season and orchestrates an engaging stream which has earned him a huge following.
Final Thoughts on Fortnite Ch5S2
It was a great season! Particularly for me since I experienced so many firsts. I look forward to continue to improve my Fortnite aiming, building, streaming, and blogging skills and look forward to building an engaging community. Thanks again for your interest in my journey!
