Thunderbolt of Zeus

Playing with Lightning – Thunderbolt of Zeus

Thunderbolt of Zeus introduced in the new Fortnite season, Chapter 5 Season 2 is a powerful weapon. You can obtain it a few different ways. First, you can secure it by defeating Zeus at Mount Olympus (this is the hard way). Also, you can find it in random chests (this is the easy way). Golden themed chests found at Olympus or Underworld are the ones most likely to contain it but I’ve found it elsewhere as well.

To use the Thunderbolt of Zeus, aim at a target and press the trigger. This will elevate your character up in the air and your lightning will be charging. This takes awhile. About 2 seconds. You can then unleash two thunderbolts quickly that are powerful and wreak havoc on forts, buildings, and players. After a very short delay you can unleash a 3rd bolt. The detailed animation of unleashing the bolts adds to the fun of using them.

The one huge drawback with using the Thunderbolt of Zeus is that you’re hanging defenseless in the air for about 2 seconds. This is an eternity for alert opponents to shoot you out of the sky and eliminate you. I’ve learned this the hard way. Several times! Another drawback is that you only get 3 lightning bolts. If you want to continue to play with lightning after that, you will need to find another one.

So far, the Thunderbolt of Zeus has become a fun and powerful weapon in my arsenal. I usually reserve a spot for some sort of explosives in my inventory so whenever I have the good fortune to find it, I’ll use it. I’ve been most successful using the Thunderbolts of Zeus when my opponents are unaware of my whereabouts or are weakened from another battle. I scored my first win of the season using this new weapon which was a huge thrill!
